How to turn a photo into a Minecraft skin

  1. 1

    Upload an image

A clear photo with one person or character, face visible, in JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB.

  2. 2

    Pick classic or slim

Classic arms are 4 pixels wide, slim (Alex) arms are 3. Then press Generate; it uses 1 credit.

  3. 3

    Wait about 2–3 minutes

The AI draws the views, unfolds them into the skin layout and paints the face. You can leave the page; it keeps going.

  4. 4

    Download and play

Get the 64×64 PNG for Java or the .mcpack for Bedrock, or open the skin in the editor to touch it up.

Tips for a better photo to skin result

How image to Minecraft skin works

A Minecraft skin is not a picture of a person. It is a small texture that wraps around a blocky body: the head, body, arms and legs each have six faces, laid out flat on a 64×64 grid. Turning an image into a skin means working out what the front, back and sides of the character look like, and then painting each face pixel by pixel.

The AI does that in a few steps. It reads the photo and draws the character from the front and back, unfolds that into the skin layout, paints a separate pixel face so the eyes and mouth stay readable, and then cleans the result up into a real Minecraft texture. You get the 64×64 PNG that Java Edition and Bedrock both accept, and an HD 128×128 version packed as a .mcpack for Bedrock.

It works with photos of people, pets, toys, drawings and characters, in JPG, PNG or WebP. Hair, glasses, hats, hoodies and colors carry over best; tiny logos and text are simplified, because a skin face is only 8×8 pixels. If a detail comes out wrong, open the skin in the free Skin Designer and fix it by hand.

Your photo is only used to make the skin and is deleted automatically within 24 hours of upload. Upload only photos of yourself, or photos you have permission to use.

Image to Minecraft skin FAQ

How do I turn a picture into a Minecraft skin?

Upload the picture above, choose classic or slim arms and press Generate. After about 2–3 minutes you get a 64×64 skin PNG and an HD 128×128 .mcpack, with a 3D preview.

Is this a photo to Minecraft skin converter or an AI?

It is AI. A plain converter only shrinks the image onto the skin grid, which never looks like a character. Here the AI redraws the subject as a Minecraft character and paints every face of the skin.

What images work best?

A clear, well-lit photo of one person, pet or character with the face visible. JPG, PNG and WebP up to 10 MB are accepted. Drawings and game characters work too.

How much does it cost?

Each skin costs 1 credit. New accounts get 3 free credits, and if a generation fails the credit is returned automatically.

Does the skin work on Java and Bedrock?

Yes. Upload the 64×64 PNG in the Minecraft Launcher (Skins tab) for Java, or open the .mcpack on a phone, tablet or Windows PC for Bedrock. The HD 128×128 version is for Bedrock only.

Can I edit the skin afterwards?

Yes. Press Edit in editor to open it in the free Skin Designer, change any pixel or the second layer, and download it again. Your skins are also saved in My skins.

What happens to my photo?

It is used only to make your skin and is deleted automatically within 24 hours of upload. The finished skin stays in My skins until you delete it.

Can I use a photo of someone else or a celebrity?

Only photos of yourself, or of people who agreed. Photos of other people without permission and of celebrities are not allowed.
